SiteScout AdServer Privacy Policy

SiteScout Inc. is committed to protecting the privacy of online consumers. This document outlines our technology and the practices we use to collect information.

Privacy Compliance

SiteScout does not collect any personally identifiable information (PII) from users. SiteScout adheres to the privacy guidelines created by the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) and the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB).

Information Collection

SiteScout is a technology service provider. When you see an ad that has been served by sitescout.com, the website you are visiting has commissioned SiteScout to act as an agent to deliver advertisements and report on advertising activity. The website you are visiting may be: a SiteScout customer or a website who is selling ad space to one of SiteScout’s customers. The information collected by SiteScout on behalf of our customers is the property of that customer and is only used by SiteScout to customize ad serving for that customer.

SiteScout, through the use of cookies and pixel tags, collects anonymous usage statistics. These are industry standard technologies used by many major websites. No personally identifiable information is collected or used in this process.

Do we use cookies?

Yes. Cookies are small files that a site or it’s service provider transfers to your computer’s hard drive through your Web browser (if you allow) that enables the sites or service provider’s systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information. Cookies are often wrongly categorized as “Spyware”, or as a virus or other malicious program. A cookie itself cannot do anything except help a Web site behave in a manner customized to you.

SiteScout uses cookies to enhance your browsing experience by preventing you from seeing the same advertisements repeatedly. SiteScout does not use the cookie to personally identify you in any way.

It is possible to tell your browser to reject cookies for all sites or specific sites. Rejecting cookies is not recommended however as cookies are intended to improve your browsing experience.

Pixel Tracking

To ensure the correct delivery and success of our customer’s advertising campaigns, SiteScout uses pixel tracking tags to measure usage statistics. SiteScout customers will have their partner websites place these pixel tags on their websites. These tags allow SiteScout software to measure non-personal behavioural patterns which indicate the success of the advertising. No personally identifiable information is collected during this process.

Disclosure of Information

SiteScout does not provide any of your personal information to our customer or their partners when you view an ad. The data we collect using cookies and pixel tags is only viewable by our customers and contains no personally identifiable information.

Opting Out

If you do not want to store this information in your browser, you can easily deny, or opt out of, cookies. There is more than one way to opt out of cookies: manually delete your cookies by following the instructions contained in the “Help” section of your browser; or, go to our Opt Out page. We will no longer deliver ads targeted to your preferences and usage patterns.

In order to opt-out you must have cookies enabled: In order for the opt-out process to work correctly on your computer, the browser must be set to accept third party cookies. If you use a different computer, change web browsers or delete this cookie, you will need to opt-out again.
